Our Story

They say becoming a parent changes you — and that couldn’t be more true for me.
The moment I held my daughter for the first time, something shifted. I wasn’t just a man anymore. I was her protector, her guide, her mirror. I became a Girl Dad — and with that, I inherited the sacred responsibility to be present, intentional, and rooted in love.
As I grew in that role, I saw a gap that couldn’t be ignored: the cultural narrative around fatherhood — especially Black and minority fatherhood — was broken. We’re too often portrayed as absent, disengaged, or disposable. But that’s not the full truth.
Here’s what the data shows:

Children with involved fathers are 39% more likely to earn better grades in school, 45% less likely to repeat a grade, and 60% less likely to be suspended or expelled.

Girls who grow up with active, loving fathers are more confident, less likely to experience anxiety, and more likely to succeed academically and professionally.

According to CDC data, Black fathers are among the most actively involved in their children’s daily lives — including bathing, feeding, and reading to their kids. Yet despite this, their presence is often overlooked or misrepresented in mainstream narratives
I started Girl Dad Gang™
because I knew I wasn’t alone. There are millions of men showing up for their children — not just biologically, but emotionally, spiritually, and generationally. And I wanted to create something that didn’t just represent us, but elevated us.
Our apparel isn’t just about style — it’s about storytelling. It’s about legacy. It’s about sparking conversations and reshaping how the world sees present, engaged fathers — especially those raising daughters. And it’s about affirming the value of the entire family unit — mothers, grandparents, sons, and supporters included.

This brand is built on four pillars:
Fatherhood. Faith. Family. Community.
Whether you wear our tees, share our message, or simply live out your values in your home, you are part of this movement.
This isn’t just a brand.
This is a Gang of good men doing good work.
This is how we change the narrative — one legacy at a time.
Much obliged,
Samson Wodajo, MBA
Founder & Proud Girl Dad
